I sell stolen phones as London used-Suspect confesses

A phone dealer has been arrested by Operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command .

The dealer  specializes in buying stolen mobile phones from armed robbers and ‘one chance’ gangs then sell them as London used phones to unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspect, Jamiu Adebayo, 30, was tracked and arrested with an iphone 7 belonging to one Kolade Johnson, a banker working in Lagos Island.
Johnson, had on August 23 boarded a one chance commercial bus around 5:45 a:m of his way to work. The robbers, operating with the commercial bus dispossessed him of a laptop, 2 phones, one of which was traced to Adebayo while trying to sell it to a customer in Lagos Island.
Also found in the bag of the suspect were 6 additional iphones, 4 assorted phones and three MTN sim packs, which he stated he collected from some of the robbers.
Adebayo, an erstwhile NURTW member in Ajah, stated that he went into sale of cloth after raising enough money. He added that it was here he ventured into fairly used phone sales.
The suspect noted that he regularly bought stolen phones from three people who he is aware are members of armed robbery and one chance gangs.
“Uche, Alubi and Pinheiro are three major guys I collect these phones from. I buy iphone 7 with icloud N45,000 and sell N55,000. Those without icloud, I buy N150,000 and sell N180,000.
I buy iphone 6 N65,000. I buy Samsung phones N22,000 and sell N27,000. I sell other phones too. I work on the phones and disguise them as London used phones,” he explained.

Uche, Pinheiro and Alubi have been on the run since the arrest of Adebayo last week Tuesday

Ozubulu church massacre -How gunmen killed the father of their target over sour 'deal'

A sour drug deal is reportedly the reason for the Ozubulu Church Massacre  which according to police, left 8 dead and 18 injured.

According to Vanguard, it was learned that trouble started for worshippers who were in church for the 6:00am Mass, when at about 6:45am, the gunmen rode into the church in a Lexus SUV, as one of them entered the church and shot at close range an elderly man, later identified as Pa Ikegwuonu, while others remained in the vehicle outside.
An eye-witness told Vanguard that after killing the old man, the gunman opened fire on other worshippers, as those who tried to flee were cut down by the gunmen outside the church.

Pa Ikegwuonu is the father of Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu, a businessman from Amakwa, who built and donated the church to Nnewi Diocese, while his wife was shot on her right arm and still on admission at the teaching hospital.

It was gathered that the gunmen were looking for his son, Aloysius, who was said to have returned to the village on Saturday and left later in the day. According to a source, the gunmen had thought  he was in the church and had wanted to deal decisively with him over a yet-to-be ascertained business deal.

A survivor, Mr. Stephen Ohamadike, told Vanguard at the church premises that the gunmen entered the church around 6.45am as they were about to begin prayer of the faithful. He said:

“Those of us who were to say the prayers of the faithful had just assembled at the altar and I had Number 2 which meant that I was to say the prayer for Nigeria. Suddenly, I saw someone who was putting on a cap shooting indiscriminately inside the church. “There was pandemonium and in the midst of the confusion, I just lay down on the floor. The officiating priest and the Mass servers quickly left the altar and the Mass came to an abrupt end. “I counted 11 dead people and many were wounded. I used the vehicle belonging to Pa Ikegwuonu to take him and his wife and others to Evans Hospital where the doctors advised us to go to the teaching hospital. I used the car to convey many other people to the hospital before I came back to Amakwa.”

Several other parishioners, who sustained bullet wounds were being treated at the hospital, with over 50 medical doctors from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, and other private hospitals around Nnewi battling to save their lives at the Emergency Unit of the hospital.

More Woes For Diezani Alison-Madueke As The U.S Is Set To Go After Her

The battle is yet from over for former petroleum minister,Diezani Alison-Madueke as the U.S is gearing up to go after her and her cronies.

Barely a week after her $37.5 millionBanana Island edifice was seized by the federal government,a former US State Department Nigeria specialist, Mathew Page, has suggested that a US civil forfeiture case to seize $144 million of assets from two cronies of Diezani Alison-Madueke, may just be the start of her legal troubles with America.
US Justice Department last week filed an asset recovery case in Houston against Jide Omokore and Kola Aluko, seeking the seizure of luxury property, including a New York apartment and $80 million yacht, bought by one of the businessmen. The two businessmen, at the detriment of Nigerian treasury, were heavily favoured by Diezani, during her tenure as Nigeria’s oil minister.

“Although this is the first attempt by US law enforcement to go after assets allegedly stolen by Diezani and her henchmen, it almost certainly will not be the last,” the AFP reported Mathew Page as saying.

At present, Diezani faces charges only at home but her name crops up in a growing number of international cases that lift the lid on the scale of alleged corruption in the country’s oil sector.

Since leaving office in 2015, she has been implicated in bribery, fraud, misuse of public funds, and money laundering cases in Nigeria, Britain, Italy and the United States.

(Photo) President Buhari Dines With APC Governors In London

Following the meeting between APC governors and president Buhari in London today ,Governor Rochas Okorocha gave this report in a telephone conversation reported by President Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.

According to Adesina,

In a telephone conversation following the meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari in London Sunday, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said the President was very cheerful and has not lost any bit of his sense of humour.
The governor said the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch, and it was very clear from the discussions that he followed developments at home very closely.
He said the President was delighted to receive the delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state. He also asked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, about the state of the railways.
When asked to react to all the negative things being said about him, the President just laughed, describing such negative reports as lies. Governor Okorocha said President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians.
According to the governor, Nigerians don’t have to worry at all, adding that President Buhari will be back as soon as the doctors give him the green light.
“By our visit to London today, the merchants of lies have been put out of business and Nigerians will not buy the garbage they have been selling. All those who look up to fake news can find better use for their time,” Governor Okorocha noted.
Governors Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; Yahaya Bello of Kogi; and APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, were also in the delegation.

Wives of ISIS killers moan about husbands spending too much on sex slaves' makeup

ISIS militants' jealous wives have complained their extremist husbands are lavishing gifts on sex slaves and giving the captive women too much affection.

The partners, dubbed the "desperate housewives of Raqqa", were more concerned about how much their husbands spent on lipstick for their slaves than their barbaric acts of terror like beheadings.

One runaway wife said the jihadists were buying the "best" make-up and clothes for their slaves, creating "tension" between the women,The NewYork Times reported.

She also told how her husband and other extremists used a mobile phone app to sell their slaves, with virgins going for as much as $10,000.

Journalist Jenan Moussa spoke to runaway ISIS wives at a refugee camp in Ayn Issa, Syria, after they escaped the city of Raqqa.

Most of the women at the camp are foreign-born and desperate to return home, The Times reported.

One Lebanese wife said some of the other wives divorced their husbands due to the way they treated their slaves. She said:

"They were spending too much on the sex slaves, buying them the best make-up, clothes and accessories.""They were sharing photos of the sex slaves with the best make-up and clothes, and asking $2,000 for this one, $3,000 for that one. A virgin cost $10,000.”

“How Flavour Forced Me To Quit My Music Career” – Flavour’s Ex-Fiancée, Beverly O Reveals

Beverly O, An ex-girlfriend to Highlife singer, Flavour N’abania has revealed how she met the singer, got engaged, and how he forced her to quit her music career.

Read Excerpts below… Interview was conducted by NAIJ.com

Excerpts below:

How she met Flavour

My relationship with Flavour was a bittersweet one. I met him in 2012 when he performed at a show in Houston, Texas where I am from. 3 weeks after we met, he flew me to Nigeria, Enugu to be precise.

I met his parents and he proposed to me. I didn’t know why he was taking me to his parents so quickly at that time. My mum and aunts kept telling me to cover up and make sure I say yes ma, no ma and all that stuff. He proposed and I said yes.

How Naija girls had a plan for her man

One of the issues we had was the fact that he was based in Nigeria and I was based in the States. This was one of the things that allowed extra noise come into our relationship. We tried to spend time together, but if Naija girls have a plan for your man, they will follow through.

This is why I think women need to be close to her man because men are so weak!

How he wanted her to quit her music career

He said that I should quit my career because our relationship wouldn’t work if they were two stars in the relationship.

Why the relationship did not work

Our relationship did not work because of lies and deceit. I felt like we both made mistakes so I’m not going to put it all on him. Also when he started getting all the women pregnant, I couldn’t deal. I was like ‘hell no’.

I have spoilt Imo people with development – Gov Okorocha

Gov Okorocha has scored his performance as the helms-man of the state, high. He also said that the Imo people will stone his successor if he or she does not perform well.

The Governor told newsmen that he did not get into politics for profit, but to serve and leave a legacy. According to Vanguard, he said this while speaking to State House Correspondents in Abuja.

Okorocha said “I am in this job not for the profit of it but for the honour and glory of the job. So I want to leave a legacy. I want Imo people to miss me and they will definitely miss me.

Believe you me they have not seen such developmental work before now and they will miss it. The only problem I have is that anybody that comes after me and does not perform will be stoned.

Because you cannot come to Imo State now and say you want to abolish free education from primary to university, they will not accept. I have spoilt Imo people believe me.

You cannot come to Imo State and say you want to give them a single lane road when they are now used to eight lane road in the city, they won’t accept it.

You cannot come here and tell the children to go to schools where the floors are not tiled they will not accept because all the schools have been rebuilt. I have rebuilt 450 schools.

You can no longer take them to those ramshackle hospitals, those shanties they called hospitals because I have built 27 to 200 bed general hospitals.

You cannot tell them that there are criminal activities any more and that your hands are tied, they will not accept it because we know where we brought Imo from, from unsafe place to a safe place right now. .

I stand to be challenged and corrected by anybody that what we have done in Imo State in six years can be comparable to what any governor in that state living or dead has done. Have you seen me sounding boisterous? That is the truth.

But the point is I don’t make media noise, I don’t make foundation laying stones Programme, I don’t bring women to dance because I want to lay foundation project. I don’t commission projects because for me it doesn’t make sense.”

Biafra Becoming A State On It's Own is Constitutionally Impossible - Presidency

The demand for a referendum on a separate state of Biafra is a constitutional impossibility, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Prosecution has revealed.

Obono-obla was reacting to the call for a referendum by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). Speaking with the Sun Newspaper, the Presidency described such calls as a waste of time and also stated that even restructuring would not solve the myriad of problems confronting the nation.

“The demand for a referendum with regards to Biafra is a constitutional impossibility. It is a legal and political impossibility. There is no provision in the constitution of the country or any other law that provides for a part of the country to break away. .

It is a nonsensical demand. Biafra ended on the January 15, 1970. I think the agitators are just expressing their rights to freedom of expression,” he said.

When reminded that even though it is not in the country’s constitution, the issue of referendum has become an international legal instrument for self-determination groups to realise their dream, Obono-obla said

“The international law does not take precedence over the Nigerian constitution. .

If you want to ratify any treaty or international convention, the National Assembly has to approve it. You cannot begin to use the international law to deal with municipal, local and national issues. .
Let them stop wasting their time. There is nothing like that. The agitators are just wasting their time and that is why I am saying that they are just expressing their right to the freedom of expression.”

NANS rejects tuition fees increase by varsities

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will resist plans by some tertiary institutions to increase tuition fees, its President, Mr Chinonso Obasi has said.

Obasi, in a statement he issued on Wednesday in Abuja, said that NANS had received the report that no fewer than 38 tertiary institutions had concluded plans to jack up tuition fees.

The NANS president said that the association was pained by the move as Nigerian students had over the years been made to bear the brunt of administrative ineptitude of managers of tertiary institutions.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had on Monday alerted Nigerians to the increase of tuition fees by 38 universities due to poor funding by the federal and state governments.

He regretted that the APC-led administration had not showed enough commitment to improving the education sector and the plight of students.

He said that Nigerian students did not deserve such harsh punishment as fee increase would further limit the capacity of students to dream of a better future.

“Consequently NANS wishes to serve notice to the authorities concerned that Nigerian students will never endure any increase in tuition at this time of the nation’s socio-economic challenges.
“If administrators of Nigeria’s educational institutions have run out of ideas of funding and sustaining educational institutions in the country, they should feel free to liaise with students to explore new ways of funding the institutions.

“The President Buhari administration should recognise that this is time to reward the understanding and cooperation of Nigerian students with education subsidy, proper funding of education and adequate welfare initiatives for students,’’ he said.

Read as shared:

Pastor Excel Ogbeide of FOUR SQUARE GOSPEL CHURCH has been been accused of demanding for from 4 female employees of a company known as International Recruitment Services, owned and managed by the pastor and his wife.

According to the complaint that came to DPA, the Pastor refused to pay salary and commission owed because the staff refused to agree to sex.

Abandoned Nigerian woman survives 10 days in Sahara Desert

A 22-year-old Nigerian woman attempting to migrate into Europe via the harsh Sahara Desert survived after being abandoned by traffickers for 10 days.

The International Organisation for Migration said the woman, given the nickname Adoara, was the only female among the survivors of a rescue mission on May 28.

“She left Nigeria in early April hoping for a better future in Europe.
“There were 50 migrants on the pick-up truck when it left Agadez for Libya, but only six are still alive today,” Giuseppe Loprete, Niger Chief of Mission for IOM, said.

Recounting her ordeal, the Nigerian survivor said:

“We were in the desert for 10 days. After five days, the driver abandoned us.
“He left with all of our belongings, saying he was going to pick us up in a couple of hours, but he never did,” she recalled.

During the next two days, 44 of the migrants died which persuaded the six left to start walking to look for help.

“We had to drink our own pee to survive,”  said the woman now in an IOM camp in Niamey, Niger.

She had left Nigeria with two close female friends, who both died in the desert.

“They were too weak to keep going,” she sadly remembers. “We buried a few, but there were just too many to bury and we didn’t have the strength to do it,” Adaora adds.
“I couldn’t walk anymore. I wanted to give up,” she recalls.

Two other migrants carried her until a truck driver picked them up and took them to local authorities who then alerted IOM staff in Dirkou in the Agadez Region of north-eastern Niger.

By the time the six survivors reached IOM’s transit centre in Dirkou, Adaora was unconscious.

She received medical assistance, and once recovered, she gave a detailed account of her experience to both the authorities and IOM staff. Two of the other migrants from the group went back with IOM staff and the authorities to find the bodies and identify the victims.

After having received medical assistance at IOM’s transit centres in both Dirkou and Agadez, Adaora is currently recovering at IOM’s transit centre for migrants in Niamey, awaiting her imminent voluntary return to Nigeria.

Adaora says she had no idea what the route was going to be like, otherwise she would have never left Nigeria. Going back, she wants to continue her work as a nurse. “I think it’s important we all assist each other when we are in need,” she says.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said it rescued no fewer than 600 people since April 2017 through a new search and rescue operation that targeted migrants stranded in Sahara Desert.

The UN migration agency, however, regretted 52 migrants, mostly from The Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire, died over the period, according to its statement on Tuesday.

Meet This 65 Year Old Ugandan Man With 176 Children, 90 Grandchildren, 13 Wives, 10 Girlfriends.

Meet 65-year-old Mustafa Magambo Mutone, a proud father of 176 children, 90 grand children, 13 wives and 10 Girlfriends.

According to Mustafa, he’s having financial challenges to train all of them and wants the Government to support some of his 176 children.

“I have tried to feed my 13 wives and over 170 children and it is not easy. I request the Government to at least sponsor 30 of my children in secondary schools and tertiary institutions,” Mutone, a businessman and a resident of Kyaterekera trading centre in Kagadi district, said.

He added that he has over 40 children in primary school and has plans to establish his own nursery and primary school in Kyaterekera sub-county. He says he has about 10 children in the universities (Makerere, Mbarara and Kyambogo), most of them on private sponsorship.

Mutone has five pairs of twins among his children. His children will hit the 180 mark by the end of the year because six of his wives are pregnant.

Mutone, a Mubwisi by tribe, is the chairman of Kyaterekera A village. He was born on January 1, 1952 in Kiryabwenju, Nyamiti parish, Muhorro town council in Kagadi district. His first marriage was in 1968 at 16 years of age.

In an interview with Ugandan’s New Vision, he explained that he is still strong enough to marry more wives and bear more children, since he does not drink alcohol, smoke or take sugar.

Mutone, who deals in produce (beans, maize and coffee), also owns a wholesale shop at Kyaterekera trading centre. He says some of his wives are working as midwives at Mulago Hospital and Mbarara Hospital and in Rwanda.

“Two of my wives who gave birth to twins are in Kampala and Isingiro, working as midwives, while another two — Haniffer Kabasomi and Jane Tuhaise — work as nurses. My youngest wife is 25, and the eldest is 50, but I had about 10 girlfriends before I married officially and they all delivered the same year,” Mutone said.

According to him, his first born child is 49 years old, while the youngest are four-year-old twins. He further noted that he has over 90 grandchildren.

The grey-haired Mutone, said he has a special book where he records every child born whether within the country or outside, because he has some wives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi.

He said one of the challenges he faces is the long distance as some of his women live in different parts of the country.

“I receive about 10 calls every day from different wives who want attention but I cannot be everywhere. I have seven wives in Kagadi alone,” he said. “I do not have any challenge of supporting them because some of them support themselves since they work,” Mutone said.

Madina Tibasiima, 45, one of his wives who has nine children, said she has not faced any problems with a big family because most of her children are working as soldiers, civil servants, and nurses.

She, however, said her younger children need school fees; some are in primary school and others in secondary school.

One of Mutone’s sons, Kyaise Suwedi, 40, the Gombolola internal security officer of Kyaterekera, said his monthly salary caters for some of his brothers’ education.

“We were groomed by our father to be responsible, have good morals and work hard. The only challenge is the big number of dependants of other wives who have children aged between four and 13 years,” Kyaise said.

While another son, Muhamad Byarufu, aged 45, said he owns a business and helps pay school fees of some of his younger brothers.

“We have a programme of starting up a school with our father, since some of my brothers are teachers. We will not find a problem hiring teachers and having pupils to teach. Some of my young brothers are in primary elsewhere and some children of our stepmothers are of school-going age. They can fill the classes,” he said.

The police at Ikotun division have arrested a 40-year old man, Oyin Ezigbo, for his alleged sexual molestation of an 11-year old boy who he damaged his anus after forceful penetration.

The incident happened on Sunday at a mechanic workshop located at Suraju Street off Better Life Road in Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos where the victim parents and the suspect reside.

According to P.M.EXPRESS, Ezigbo allegedly lured the victim, who was sent to buy noodles by his parents, into a mechanic workshop where he forced him to lay faced down, used cream to rub the boy’s anus and penetrated him.

Our correspondent gathered that the Ezigbo’s forceful penetration of the victim got him injured which forced him to shout for help.

It was gathered that the boy’s chilling cries attracted the mechanic workshop owner and his workers who came to the boy’s rescue while Ezigbo fled.

Following the alleged sexual assault, the matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun division who trailed Ezigbo and arrested him.

He is currently detained at the police cell for the alleged offence and his vehicle was impounded and brought to the station by the angry residents.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited Ikotun police division, Ezigbo was still detained there and every effort to speak to him proved abortive as the police was not willing to allow our correspondent to do so.

However, the police sources said that he will soon be charged to court.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited the father of the boy, William Adekoya in his house, he narrated what happened and his frustration.

He said that he had sent the boy to go and buy the noodles which the family wanted to eat as launch that afternoon before the owner of the mechanic workshop came to tell him what happened.

He said the residents became angry and searched for the suspect to mob him and to teach him a lesson but he had fled.

The angry father said the vehicle left behind by Ezigbo was impounded and taken to Ikotun police division before the suspect later showed up and got arrested.

He said the sodomy act severely injured his son who was taken quickly to the hospital for treatment.

He said he was more afraid after some people told him that his son might have been rendered useless because they suspect Ezigbo might has used him for ritual by the forceful penetration.

South Africa’s Church bars blacks

A South Africa’s Church has barred blacks from attending service as the church on Sunday disallowed two black journalists from entering.

The Afrikaanse Protestante Kerk church in Orania, told the journalists “the church is only for whites”.

Orania is an Afrikaans-only South African town located along the banks of the Orange River, in the arid Karoo region of the Northern Cape Province.

The journalists were on an assignment and decided to attend a Sunday service before returning to Pretoria but they were intercepted by a church leader, identified as Mr Theunis Oukamp, at the door.

According to Africa Review, Oukamp said allowing black people into an all-white church would be violating the “rights of Afrikaans people”.

“I am now in a difficult situation. You know that Orania is only for white people, this is why we are here.
“You must understand I know you want to serve God and everything but I have to protect the rights of Afrikaans people. So I cannot let you in, you guys can go to any other church, but this one is only for white people,” Mr Oukamp told the journalists.

Mr Langton Ndlovu, a Christian, described the move as ‘diabolical’.

“This is demonic, in this day and age, I never thought this was real. That’s unacceptable. I wonder how they read the scripture that says “there is neither Greek nor Jew” but we’re one in Christ,” said Mr Ndlovu.

The president of the South Africa Union Council of Independent Churches, Archbishop Modiri Patrick Shole, expressed shock that there was still segregation in the body of Christ, 23 years after apartheid ended.

“We don’t discriminate in church because before God we are one – whether white or black. I find it weird that we still have discrimination in the church,” he said.

N’Assembly rules out medical test for presidential aspirants

Members of the National Assembly have ruled out the possibility of recommending compulsory medical evaluation for future presidential aspirants.

Some Nigerians had urged the federal lawmakers to seize the opportunity of the ongoing constitution review process to insist that all presidential aspirants should undergo medical tests to ascertain their health status before vying for the office.

They made the call against the backdrop of the failing health of President Muhammadu Buhari, whose second round of medical leave to the United Kingdom is 50 days old today.

The late President Umar Yar’Adua also faced similar health challenges spanning several months before he eventually passed away in 2010.

However, the legislators who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, argued that such legislation, either by a clear provision in the constitution or an amendment of the Electoral Act 2010, would not guarantee the life of a presidential aspirant.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, when contacted through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, said the clause had not been considered.

He also ruled out the possibility of recommending such in the ongoing exercise.

“That is not included in what has been done so far and I don’t think such will be recommended for now for obvious reasons, especially with what is currently going on in the country,” he said.

Also, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Health Services, Mr. Chike Okafor, noted that while a medical evaluation was a “brilliant idea,” it did not guarantee good health or life.

He observed that a presidential aspirant could present a fitness certificate or be certified fit by an approved body before the election, but could die the next moment.

Okafor added, “If at the point of vying for the election, he was certified fit, but he becomes ill soon after taking the oath of office, what happens? Otherwise, the idea is good.”
